The Yerington Lions came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 58-44 win over Pershing County. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Yerington also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Noah Thom was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Kp Picotte jr was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Pershing County saw an underclassman step up: Amare Rosas scored 14 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Rosas grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Reitz, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Yerington is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Pershing County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.
Yerington will head out on the road to square off against Incline at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Yerington is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. As for Pershing County, they will head out on the road to challenge North Tahoe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Tahoe is on a three-game streak of home wins, Pershing County a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
