The High Point Central Bison were the 58-54 winner over the Rockingham County Cougars when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. High Point Central received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 68-53 to Rockingham County. High Point Central found out winning isn't easy when you make five fewer threes than your opponent.
High Point Central's loss came despite strong showings from Kamari Westray and Evan Williams. Westray scored 18 points along with two steals, while Williams scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Edgar Mateo, who scored five points.
Dalton Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rockingham County, scoring 29 points along with ten assists and ten rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 18 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Rumbley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
High Point Central's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Rockingham County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. High Point Central is on the road again on Friday and plays Ben L. Smith at 8:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully High Point Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday. As for Rockingham County, they will head out on the road to take on Dudley at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Rockingham County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
