The Sugar Creek Wildcats will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Highland Tech Rams at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Sugar Creek will be strutting in after a win while Highland Tech will be coming in after a loss.
Last Wednesday, Sugar Creek's game was all tied up 12-12 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They took down Valor Preparatory Academy 36-22.
Sugar Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Infiniti Green led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 rebounds and ten steals. Green is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games she's played. Eriyana Anthony was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals.
Highland Tech has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 43-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday.
The losing side was boosted by Addie McCraw, who scored 15 points. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Sugar Creek's win bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Highland Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Sugar Creek have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Highland Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 45.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sugar Creek was dealt a bruising 50-18 loss at the hands of Highland Tech in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McCraw, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Now that Sugar Creek knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
