Kofa has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Copper Canyon Aztecs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Kofa is ranked 221st, while Copper Canyon is ranked 230th).
Last Friday, Kofa came up short against Cibola and fell 58-45.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Devin Diaz, who scored ten points along with five assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Barber, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Copper Canyon posted their closest win yet this season on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 victory over Glendale.
Kofa's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Copper Canyon, they pushed their record up to 8-10 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Kofa barely slipped by Copper Canyon when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 46-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kofa since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
