Agawam has gone 8-2 against Minnechaug Regional recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Everything went the Brownies' way against Pittsfield on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-6 victory. Kiley Ryan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Malanson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Agawam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pittsfield only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, Minnechaug Regional can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Monson 4-3.
Minnechaug Regional saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Peabody, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Aezlin Rost also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Agawam is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Minnechaug Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Minnechaug Regional's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Agawam has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Minnechaug Regional, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Agawam keep running through batters, or will the Falcons buck the trend?
Agawam took their win against Minnechaug Regional in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 15-3 score. Will the Brownies repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
