On Jan. 31, the MaxPreps Tour of Champions made history by traveling to New Hampshire for the first time ever to honor a truly special girls soccer team at
Bow High School. As part of the third annual MaxPreps Girls' Soccer Tour of Champions presented by the National Guard, Bow is one of just ten schools being honored.
The Lady Falcons finished a perfect 20-0 while outscoring opponents a combined 84-6 for the entire season. They dominated in both aspects of the game but especially on the defensive end where they pitched a shutout for their first seven games. Out of a total of 10,000 girls soccer teams ranked by MaxPreps, Bow finished an incredible No. 46 overall in the entire nation. Bow completed their dominating season with a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory over Hopkinton to capture their second Division III state championship in three years.
On the morning of the assembly, the Bow students packed the auditorium in excitement to give their girls soccer team the praise they deserve for having a truly exceptional year on the field. As Staff Sergeant Jacob Poole of the New Hampshire Army National Guard handed out the commemorative Tour of Champions shirts to the players, the girls on the team as well as the coaching staff thanked SSG Poole and MaxPreps for the recognition. Both SSG Poole and Coach Vogt were excited to be a part of the ceremony for the first ever MaxPreps Tour of Champions stop in New Hampshire.
Coach Vogt later said, "We are not a big school, but we do pretty well in soccer. The girls put in a lot of hard work this season and I am excited they are getting recognized."
Bow High School athletic director Jim Kaufman opened the ceremony by saying a few words about what it meant that the girls achieved as much as any team possibly could in one season and how proud the whole community was of them. SSG Poole then spoke about how the team overcame adversity such as losing six starters from the previous year.
He later went on to say how it really takes a special group of girls to fill that void and step into those leadership positions. Also, he mentioned how they were not phased by adversity and managed to stick together as one collective unit throughout the season. Afterwards, SSG Poole presented Coach Vogt and the girls soccer team with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy.
The students, faculty, and parents all broke out into thunderous applause to recognize a team that was one of the best in school history, if not the best. The Lady Falcons' stood there, basking in a perfect season as they smiled cheek to cheek, accepting the praise of their peers.
Congratulations to the Bow Falcons on their second state title in three years and national ranking! We hope to see you on the Tour of Champions next year!
