Graham-Kapowsin is 2-8 against Sumner since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Eagles will challenge the Spartans at 11:00 a.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Graham-Kapowsin's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Bethel. Considering the Eagles have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brooklyn Pettit made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Izzy Vargas was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Makayla Young also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Graham-Kapowsin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sumner ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over Bonney Lake. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The team relied heavily on Riley Meyers, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Anna Thweatt was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Graham-Kapowsin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sumner, their record is now 7-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Graham-Kapowsin hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Sumner struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Graham-Kapowsin skirted past Sumner 1-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
