The Vacaville Bulldogs will square off against the Elk Grove Thundering Herd at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Vacaville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Tokay. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Lola Vazquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Paige Witte, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Maddie Rhodus, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Vacaville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 11-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, while Elk Grove put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Bella Vista. The Thundering Herd put the hurt on the Broncos with a sharp 12-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thundering Herd.
Loie Moore was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabel Focht, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Elk Grove's win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Vacaville, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.
Everything went Vacaville's way against Elk Grove in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Vacaville made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
