The Weimar Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Schulenburg Shorthorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Weimar is ranked 680th, while Schulenburg is ranked 687th).
Last Friday, Weimar got themselves on the board against Hearne, but Hearne never followed suit. They blew past the Eagles 26-0. The result was nothing new for Weimar, who have now won five contests by 26 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Schulenburg had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Flatonia 43-28. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Schulenburg's ten-point performance the game before.
Their wins bumped Weimar to 6-2 and Schulenburg to 4-3.
Weimar didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Schulenburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 12-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Weimar since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
