Basketball Recap: West Orange Piles Up the Points Against Eastside

West Orange came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Eastside Ghosts to the tune of 64-32. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mountaineers had established a 25 point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Orange to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anaya Karriem, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 boards. Karriem's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhyan Watt, who posted 18 points along with six assists and four steals.

West Orange was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

West Orange has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Eastside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

West Orange won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mount St. Dominic Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastside, they and Passaic County Tech will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played.
