The Bonita Springs Bullsharks lost against the Palmetto Ridge Bears back in January of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Bonita Springs took a serious blow against Palmetto Ridge, falling 64-20. Bonita Springs was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-10.
Despite the defeat, Bonita Springs saw an underclassman step up: Maci Tumbleson scored three points.
Palmetto Ridge was led to victory by Haley Cousins and Melody Charlton. Cousins dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Charlton scored 21 points along with four steals. The contest was Charlton's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amberly Rios, who scored nine points.
Bonita Springs' defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.2 points per game. As for Palmetto Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Bonita Springs will head out on the road to face off against Island Coast at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Island Coast is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Palmetto Ridge, they will play host again and welcome Indian Hill, where tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on December 28th.
