Two dominant guards in Ryan Luchetta and Sam Clachko are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wilton Warriors will square off against the Staples Wreckers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
If Wilton beats Staples with 68 points on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Wilton managed a 68-63 victory over Warde on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Luchetta continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8-for-17 to rack up 20 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Totten, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.
Wilton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Staples faced Ridgefield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Staples walked away with an 81-69 win over Ridgefield. The victory was familiar territory for the Wreckers, who have now won four matches in a row.
Staples' win came from a few key players Wilton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mason Tobias, who went 8-for-10 en route to 21 points and eight boards. What's more, he posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dhilan Lowman, who went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points and three steals.
Wilton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points over those games. As for Staples, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Wilton has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Staples struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Wilton might still be hurting after the 60-40 loss they got from Staples in their previous meeting back in January. Can Wilton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
