The Southside Tigers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Powdersville 71-42. While losing is never fun, Southside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Powdersville is ranked 17th).
It was another big night for Hayden Assemian, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds for Powdersville. Assemian hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Nick Sweet, who scored 12 points.
Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Powdersville, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.
Southside will be playing in front of their home fans against Belton-Honea Path at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Belton-Honea Path is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Powdersville, they will take on Riverside at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Riverside is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
