Memorial Lutheran will be home for the holidays to greet the YES Prep Northwest Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial Lutheran has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Memorial Lutheran ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Family Christian 64-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Memorial Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Porter, who scored 27 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Porter has scored at least 25% of Memorial Lutheran's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Porter, who scored 20 points.
Meanwhile, YES Prep Northwest's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against McKinney Christian Academy, falling 79-43. While losing is never fun, YES Prep Northwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1519th, while McKinney Christian Academy is ranked 547th).
Memorial Lutheran's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-2. As for YES Prep Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
