The River Valley Blackhawks will face off against the Lancaster Flying Arrows at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games River Valley has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, River Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Platteville and fell 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blackhawks have suffered against the Hillmen since May 21, 2019.
Brooklyn Stokes made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Nachreiner, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Lancaster made sure to put some runs up on the board against Southwestern on Tuesday. The Flying Arrows were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Wildcats. With that victory, the Flying Arrows brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Lillian Edge was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Lancaster got a massive performance out of Addison Morgan, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Morgan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taya McGuire, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Lancaster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Lancaster's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for River Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
