The Red Rock Scorpions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They were outmatched by Veritas Prep at home and fell 75-34. While losing is never fun, Red Rock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Veritas Prep is ranked 134th).
Veritas Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Twist, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Twist has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Casen Lentz, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Red Rock dropped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Veritas Prep, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.
Red Rock won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Phoenix Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Phoenix Country Day has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 336 points over their last five matchups. As for Veritas Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Madison Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Madison Highland Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Veritas Prep likes a good challenge.
