The Rio Mesa Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 73-48 walloping at the hands of San Marcos. Rio Mesa was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-18.
Rio Mesa lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rodney Adams jr., who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Moreno, who scored nine points.
Rio Mesa's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-14. As for San Marcos, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Rio Mesa will head out on the road to square off against Dos Pueblos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dos Pueblos and Rio Mesa are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for San Marcos, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oxnard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oxnard presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than San Marcos in California (Oxnard is ranked 141st, while San Marcos is ranked 414th).
