It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Richard Montgomery Rockets can now relate to. They were outmatched by Churchill on the road and fell 41-12. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Richard Montgomery in their matchups with Churchill: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Rockets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Khalil Wilson, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for David Avit, who rushed for 187 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. Avit was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Richard Montgomery bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 14-0 Quince Orchard and 9-2 Gaithersburg (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.1% over those games). As for Churchill, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Richard Montgomery does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Churchill will be playing at home against Gaithersburg at 6:30 p.m. on November 10th. Gaithersburg will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
