The Albemarle Bulldogs waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with ten straight wins but they left with 11. They took down North Stanly 61-42. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Albemarle also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Albemarle got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amari Baldwin out in front who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Baldwin has scored at least a third of Albemarle's points. Jasmine Brown was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why North Stanly lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shalyn Bell. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 21 rebounds. Bell is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Shy'Mani Baskins, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Albemarle's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for North Stanly, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2.
Albemarle the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bishop McGuinness at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Bishop McGuinness is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53 points per game. As for North Stanly, they will head out on the road to square off against West Stanly at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in West Stanly's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
