Basketball Game Preview: Lake Mead Christian Academy Eagles vs. Needles Mustangs

Lake Mead Christian Academy is 0-10 against Needles since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Lake Mead Christian Academy Eagles will take on the Needles Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Lake Mead Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Awaken Christian, posting a 50-11 win.

Aliyah Harris continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 24 points. Her evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Davina Fernandez-Guillen, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, Needles came tearing into Tuesday's match with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cougars 79-8. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 17th in California, while the Cougars are ranked 79th in Nevada), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Needles pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.1 points per game. As for Lake Mead Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.

Lake Mead Christian Academy took a serious blow against Needles in their previous meeting back in January, falling 69-11. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lake Mead Christian Academy was down 40-9.
