They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  an  8-6  win over the Frewsburg Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Cougars have posted  against the Bears since May 23, 2019.
 Catie Russell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned  (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks.
 On the hitting side,  Hailey Myers was  incredible,  going 4-for-5 with three  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  triple. The team also got some help courtesy of  Emiley Anderson, who  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with three  RBI, one  triple,  and one  stolen base.
Cassadaga Valley's win bumped their record up to 2-0.
 Coming up, Cassadaga Valley will head out to  challenge Maple Grove  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Red Dragons at the right time seeing as the Red Dragons are stuck on  a  three-game losing streak. As for Frewsburg, they will challenge Panama at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday.
