Saegertown is 8-2 against Rocky Grove since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Panthers will take on the Orioles at 4:00 p.m. Saegertown will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
It was a proper cat-fight when Saegertown challenged Maplewood on Monday. The Panthers came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 3-0. The three-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Saegertown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Demarcus Manning, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Saegertown hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rocky Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Cochranton 13-6 on Monday. The Orioles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Preston Keith, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Rocky Grove is undefeated when Keith posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Isaac Grigsby was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
With the win, Rocky Grove broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-5. As for Saegertown, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Saegertown has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rocky Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Saegertown's way against Rocky Grove when the teams last played on Tuesday, as Saegertown made off with a 15-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
