Softball Game Preview: Paxton Bobcats vs. Crestview Bulldogs

The Paxton Bobcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Crestview Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Paxton has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

While Paxton's win against Vernon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Yellowjackets 14-13. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won six in a row.

Alyssa Falk and Emily Ward did most of the damage at the plate: Falk scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Ward scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave Ward a new career-high. Ryleigh Miller was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Paxton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Crestview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gulf Breeze.

Crestview saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cambell Toolan, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Paxton pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Crestview, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Paxton suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Crestview when the teams last played back in March. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
