The Grace Lancers will take on the Righetti Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Grace 4, Righetti 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Righetti's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Grace hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Lancers' pitchers stepped up to hand Bishop Diego a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Dylan Ferguson and Rudy Gargiulo made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Ferguson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gargiulo pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ferguson went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, while Gargiulo scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Grace got a big performance out of Alex Van, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits Van has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daniel Morlett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Grace kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Diego only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Righetti won against Mission College Prep on Wednesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Royals 5-4. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Graysen Cole and Noah Farris did most of the damage at the plate: Cole scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Farris scored a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamron Walker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Righetti's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Grace, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3-2.
