The Winston Salem Christian Lions will challenge the Triad Math and Science Academy Bengals at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Winston Salem Christian has seven straight wins, Triad Math and Science Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
On Thursday, Winston Salem Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Mount Tabor, taking the game 3-1.
Winston Salem Christian had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-13.

Winston Salem Christian had a senior duo take command as Deacon Shotwell had 30 digs and two aces and Artur Andrade had nine digs, seven aces, and one block. Those 30 digs set a new season-high mark for Shotwell. Another player making a difference was Ben Ducusen, who had five digs and four aces.
Meanwhile, Triad Math and Science Academy came up short against Phoenix Academy on Wednesday, falling 3-0.
While Triad Math and Science Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Phoenix Academy's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-16, 25-17.
Winston Salem Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Triad Math and Science Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Everything went Winston Salem Christian's way against Triad Math and Science Academy in their previous meeting last Monday, as Winston Salem Christian made off with a 3-0 victory.
