The Highland Trojans entered their tilt with the Calumet New Tech Warriors with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Highland came out on top in a nail-biter against Calumet New Tech on Tuesday and snuck past 57-54. For Highland, this counts as revenge for the 53-45 defeat Calumet New Tech walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Justin Pack was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taco Rogel, who scored 11 points.
Calumet New Tech lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being John Hudson, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Eric Allen was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists and three steals.
Highland's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Calumet New Tech, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
Highland will finish 2023 at home by hosting Morgan Township at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Morgan Township is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.9 points per game. Calumet New Tech will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Whiting at 5:30 p.m. on December 26th. Whiting is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
