Los Gatos has gone 8-2 against Mountain View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Los Gatos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Los Gatos' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Branham by a score of 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Danica DeSantis looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Lily Young was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Mountain View made easy work of Gunn two weeks ago and carried off a 7-0 win.
Allison Marcelino was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Marcelino wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nyaira Payne, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Payne a new career-high in RBI (two). Maya Buell also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gunn struck out 15 times.
Los Gatos' record is now 9-5-1. As for Mountain View, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.
Mountain View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Los Gatos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Mountain View, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Los Gatos' hitters?
Los Gatos skirted past Mountain View 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
