Avalon has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Trinidad Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinidad took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Avalon, who comes in off a win.
Avalon can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match last Tuesday. They really took it to Penelope for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-7 victory at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Avalon has posted yet this season.
Avalon found their leader in underclassman Brooklyn De La Garza, who scored 25 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which De La Garza has scored at least a third of Avalon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Zaidle, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Trinidad, who are still winless after their sixth match. They were beaten by Bynum 53-19 on Friday.
Avalon's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. As for Trinidad, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Avalon against Trinidad in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 43-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avalon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
