| 10/17/25 vs Chattahoochee | 103 |
| 10/10/25 @ Milton | 162 |
| 10/03/25 @ Seckinger | 113 |
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to NIGEL NEWKIRK and DWIGHT LEWIS. NEWKIRK rushed for 103 yards and three scores on only six carries while LEWIS rushed for 97 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries. NEWKIRK's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 103 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was KHARIM HUGHLEY, who threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Gainesville's run defense was locked in: Chattahoochee could only muster one yards per carry. The team can thank AYDEN CAIN for the heroic effort on defense: he. Gainesville didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.2.
Meanwhile, Roswell won against Chattahoochee last Friday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Hornets breezed past Lanier to the tune of 57-0. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won four in a row.
Gainesville better keep an eye on Trey Smith. He was instrumental in Roswell's win, rushing for 182 yards and three scores while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 162 yards and three TDs. That's the most rushing yards Smith has posted since back in October of 2024. Wills Campbell was another key player, picking up 66 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
One reason for the win was Roswell's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Brody Duffy, Christian English, and Alex Lucas, who each picked up one sack apiece. Roswell got some further help from Duffy: he picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles.
Roswell's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Gainesville, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Gainesville couldn't quite finish off Roswell in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 and fell 48-45. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Smith, who rushed for 93 yards and three scores, and also threw for 251 yards and one TD while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt. Now that the Red Elephants know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
