The Central Gwinnett Black Knights fell victim to the Collins Hill Eagles''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Eagles, falling 35-0. While losing is never fun, Central Gwinnett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Collins Hill is ranked 66th).
Makhi Cunningham threw for 110 yards on nine of 16 attempts. Xavier Tates was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards.
Collins Hill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tj Wilcox out in front who threw for 137 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Johnigan, who gained 111 total yards and a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Central Gwinnett and nudges their season record down to 3-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.0 points per game. As for Collins Hill, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Central Gwinnett will head out on the road to face off against Buford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Buford will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Collins Hill will take on Dacula at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dacula comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
