The Arvin Bears waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Foothill with a 58-54 win. This was payback for Arvin, who suffered a 65-41 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Arvin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miguel Damian led the charge by scoring 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Damian has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Xzavier Pierson-Brooks, who scored 12 points.
Foothill's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gio Cruz, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, and Alejandro Pacheco who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Cruz is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Cabrera, who scored 11 points.
Arvin's victory bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Foothill, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-18.
