The Franklin Central Flashes won against the Avon Orioles last Saturday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Franklin Central came out on top against Avon by a score of 57-47. Winning may never get old, but Franklin Central sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Payton Duvall continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lily Graves, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Avon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aniah Smith. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaylee Butts, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Avon struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Franklin Central pushed their record up to 9-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Avon, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Greenfield-Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Avon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Upper Arlington at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Upper Arlington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Avon in their respective states (Upper Arlington is ranked 24th in Ohio, while Avon is ranked 96th in Indiana).
