The Edinburg Bobcats suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of La Joya by a score of 47-44. Edinburg has not had much luck with La Joya recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Edinburg saw an underclassman step up: Axel Navarro scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Navarro has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Rivera, who scored eight points.
Edinburg bumped their record down to 14-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for La Joya, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-13.
Edinburg will be playing at home against Edinburg North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Joya, they will head out on the road to challenge Economedes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Economedes and La Joya are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
