First Flight is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Currituck County is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The First Flight Nighthawks will take on the Currituck County Knights at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Currituck County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on First Flight, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, First Flight was able to grind out a solid win over Northeastern, taking the game 50-40.
Mason Dobie was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points. Another player making a difference was Burke Powers, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Currituck County pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Hertford County at home by a decisive 79-60 margin. While losing is never fun, Currituck County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Hertford County is ranked 117th).
First Flight has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Currituck County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Everything came up roses for First Flight against Currituck County when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 93-61 win. With First Flight ahead 53-31 at the half, the match was all but over already.
