The Omaha South Packers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. The game between them and Fremont wasn't particularly close, with Omaha South falling 74-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Omaha South's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lou Hodoly, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Mar Cantu who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cantu has scored all season. Keegan Kimble was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Coriahnn Gallatin was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 3 assists for Fremont. Another player making a difference was Maurice Bryant, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Omaha South's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Fremont, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.
Omaha South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-63 win vs. Omaha Northwest on the 10th. Fremont will be playing at home against Kearney at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fremont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Kearney is ranked 33rd).
