The Hodgeman County Longhorns took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Deerfield 60-14 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-0.
Hodgeman County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mallorie Ruff led the charge by scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Casey Schaffer was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Hodgeman County's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Deerfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Hodgeman County will head out on the road to face off against Trego at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Trego focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Deerfield, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Ingalls at 4:30 p.m.
