The Carroll Chargers will venture away from home to challenge the DeKalb Barons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Carroll is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Carroll lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Norwell, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Chargers put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 21-0 victory on Thursday. The contest marked the Chargers' most dominant win of the season.
Taylor Danley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lily Schultz was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaelyn Kinsey also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Carroll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, DeKalb made sure to put some runs up on the board against Huntington North on Wednesday. The Barons walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Vikings. The game was the first time the Barons have beaten the Vikings on their field since May 1, 2019.
DeKalb got a massive performance out of Paige Storck, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Rylee Moore was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Carroll's record now sits at 11-4. As for DeKalb, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Carroll has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like DeKalb struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Carroll's way against DeKalb in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Carroll made off with a 6-0 victory. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Barons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
