After scoring 84 points last week, many wondered what
Kearns would do for an encore on Friday in a game with
Riverton. The Cougars scored 41 through three quarters before letting up in a 44-19 win that vaulted them eight spots to No. 10 in this week's Utah MaxPreps Top 25 football rankings.
The remaining nine in the Top 10 all were there the previous week, including the top four teams that remained exactly intact.
Top-ranked
Corner Canyon (Draper) (5-0) once again got a dominating performance from quarterback
Jaxson Dart, who completed 16 of 18 for 328 yards and four touchdowns and no interceptions during a 56-6 win over Alta. Dart, who ranks second nationally in passing yards and touchdowns, also rushed for three scores in the victory.
Corner Creek is ranked 14th nationally by MaxPreps.
The national leader in both passing categories is fellow Utah foe in junior
Maddux Madsen, who threw for 291 yards and seven more touchdowns leading No. 4
American Fork to a 56-6 win over Merriman. In five games for the 5-0 Cavemen, Madsen has completed 121 of 188 for 1,883 yards and 27 touchdowns against three interceptions.
Dart, who has also rushed for 355 yards and seven touchdowns, has completed 76 of 100 passes for 1,714 yards and 23 touchdowns against one interception.
The two top quarterbacks are slated to face off on Oct. 14 at Corner Canyon.
