Saginaw has been on the road for five straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Keller Central Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Saturday, Saginaw suffered a tough 50-27 defeat at the hands of Martin. While losing is never fun, Saginaw can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1009th, while Martin is ranked 404th).
Tatum Stone was Saginaw's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Stone also led the team in rebounds with 12.
Anabelle Aguilera took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Meanwhile, Keller Central came up short against Colleyville Heritage on Tuesday and fell 44-32. Keller Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Malaiyah Foster put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 17 points. She scored a full 53.1% of Keller Central's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dazia Marshall was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Saginaw has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Keller Central, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-8.
Everything came up roses for Saginaw against Keller Central when the teams last played back in November of 2021 as the team secured a 69-40 victory. Will Saginaw repeat their success, or does Keller Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
