The Bristol Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Calvary Christian Academy Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bristol is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Bristol is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Dock Mennonite just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 4-1 to the Pioneers. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Warriors couldn't push the score so high this time.
Bristol saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eddy Diaz, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Calvary Christian Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Valley Forge Military Academy on Wednesday. The Cougars blew past the Trojans 18-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Jesse Egan and Levi Salmon did most of the damage at the plate: Egan got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Salmon went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Egan is becoming a predictor of Calvary Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Kenneth Davis was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Calvary Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Calvary Christian Academy's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Bristol, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bristol has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .510. However, it's not like Calvary Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .462. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bristol skirted past Calvary Christian Academy 2-0 in their previous meeting on Saturday. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
