The Georgetown-Ridge Farm Buffaloes will head out to take on the Marshall Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Monday, Georgetown-Ridge Farm made easy work of Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] and carried off a 10-4 victory.
Chloe Stephenson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season.

Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Madi Spesard was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Marshall put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Martinsville a 15-0 shutout. Fans of the Lions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Like Georgetown-Ridge Farm, Marshall also got a great game from a two-way player: Kyla Gustafson. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Gustafson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Marshall got a massive performance out of Haley McGuire, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lauren English, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Marshall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Marshall pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, their record is now 2-3.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Georgetown-Ridge Farm has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Marshall struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Georgetown-Ridge Farm suffered a grim 24-1 defeat to Marshall when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Georgetown-Ridge Farm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
