The Nitro Wildcats will face off against the Sherman Tide at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Nitro's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Sherman has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Nitro will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Williamstown on Friday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Yellowjackets.

McKenzie Hyatt made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Nitro let Ryleigh Click and Zoe Hyatt run wild. Click got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Hyatt went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Click has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Torrance Nutter, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Nitro hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Sherman came up short against Tug Valley on Thursday and fell 4-1.
Sherman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Plantz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Nitro has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Sherman, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Nitro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Sherman struggles in that department as they've averaged .424. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Nitro was able to grind out a solid victory over Sherman when the teams last played back in May of 2021, winning 3-0. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tide turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
