The Peebles Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Green 49-20 on the road. The win was familiar territory for Peebles who now have five in a row.
It was another big night for Payton Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 steals. The match was her 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Gray, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matti Hayslip, who scored six points. Hayslip scored a full 30% of Green's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Green struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Peebles pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Green, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peebles will take on Southeastern at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Green won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Glenwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th. Glenwood is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
