The Mitchell Mountaineers pushed their score all the way to 61 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 87-61 loss at the hands of Unicoi County. Mitchell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
It was another big night for Kolby Jones, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 6 assists for Unicoi County. The match was Jones' 13th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Koda Cutlip, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Unicoi County, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell will take on Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Madison and Mitchell are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Unicoi County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Greene at 8:00 p.m. on December 12th. West Greene will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 380th, while Unicoi County is ranked 104th).
