Jared Obenrader spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up six Ks. Otto-Eldred is undefeated when Obenrader allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Wyatt Blendinger and Manning Splain did most of the damage at the plate: Blendinger got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Splain went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Cameron County posted their closest win since May 17, 2024 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Oswayo Valley, sneaking past 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Ryan Shaffer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Shaffer wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Narby, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Narby has posted since back in May of 2024. Braxtyn Neyman also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
