Bradford is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out on the road to square off against the Middleton Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Bradford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Bradford was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against West Carroll on Monday. The Red Devils never let the War Eagles get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Devils considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Calley Graves was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Leah Page, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Bradford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Monday. Middleton lost 22-10 to Bolivar Central. Middleton just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Nyah House and Brianna Harris did some serious damage despite the final result: House got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI, while Harris got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Howell, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
Bradford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Middleton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bradford has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Middleton struggles in that department as they've averaged .568. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bradford came out on top in a nail-biter against Middleton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 10-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
