Softball Game Preview: Jourdanton Indians/Squaws vs. Antonian Prep Apaches

The Jourdanton Indians/Squaws will square off against the Antonian Prep Apaches at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Antonian Prep will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Jourdanton extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Indians/Squaws never let Cornerstone Christian get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Indians/Squaws not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 12th (when they won 15-0).

Megan Salazar made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Jill Martinez and Sydney Floyd did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Floyd went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits Floyd has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kayden Martinez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Antonian Prep came out on top against Saint Mary's Hall on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Apaches put the hurt on the Barons with a sharp 8-0 win. Considering the Apaches have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Khloe Villanueva was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Jocelyn Seaborn was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Jourdanton's victory bumped their record up to 10-5-2. As for Antonian Prep, their win bumped their record up to 14-8-1.
