The Bishop Verot Vikings had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Imagine School at North Port with a sharp 68-46 win. Given Bishop Verot's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Imagine School at North Port is ranked 534th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Verot's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Williams, who scored 27 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least 25% of Bishop Verot's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leroy Roker, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists.
Bishop Verot pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Imagine School at North Port, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Verot won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Southwest Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Southwest Florida Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Imagine School at North Port, they will be playing at home against The Classical Academy of Sarasota at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Classical Academy of Sarasota has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
