Shady Spring is 8-2 against Princeton since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Shady Spring will be playing in front of their home fans against Princeton at 5:30 p.m. Shady Spring is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Shady Spring took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Nicholas County an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Tyler Wilhite made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Shady Spring: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Sam Barnett and Cutter Boggs did most of the damage at the plate: Barnett went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Boggs went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jacob Claypool, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Princeton faced PikeView in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Tigers took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Tigers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Deegan Walters and Brody Combs did some serious damage despite the final result: Walters went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Combs went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Shady Spring pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Princeton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Shady Spring has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Princeton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Shady Spring skirted past Princeton 10-9 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will Shady Spring repeat their success, or does Princeton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
