The Cameron County Raiders won against the St. Marys Flying Dutch on Tuesday with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Cameron County took down St. Marys 56-39. Given Cameron County's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while St. Marys is ranked 183rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cameron County can attribute much of their success to Josh Smith, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Josh Beer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
St. Marys lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anthony Nedzinski, who scored 12 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Quin Gavazzi, who scored 11 points.
Cameron County pushed their record up to 2-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. Marys, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Cameron County will look to defend their home court on Monday against Galeton at 6:00 p.m. St. Marys won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ridgway at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th.
